Warm-Up

The most important thing that I have learned this week would have to be finding good research sources. That is going to help me a tremendous amount through out the school year. All of the resources looked very reliable and I'm ready to get started and start using them.

Warm Up

When writing an opinion piece to research on your subject you could use internet to find websites that tell you about your subject that would help backup your opinion. People that have the same opinion on the matter as you do would be good to get information on. You could also research information on your subject by talking to people who are either involved with the subject so you can put it in your piece to back up your opinion.

Warm Up

The most important thing about writing an opinion piece I think would be that you opinion should be strong and backed up with some short of reason why you think this. An opinion piece is a piece that you could tell the readers what you feel about some sort of situation or an opinion on an event or something like that. What else besides you opinion should be included would be facts maybe to support your thought.

Warm Up

I think that if I would have to rate myself from 1-10 based on my performance in the class I would say an 8 or 7 . I say an 8 or 7 because I think that I have tried my best to make my articles publish on the day that they are due and make them the best to my ability. Even though I have not published ever time It is because I am trying to get used to this whole Journalism thing and sometimes my articles need some adjustment before they are published. Also, I can admit that sometimes my mind trails off and I forget about an assignment. I can say that I have been getting used to it and that as we go on my articles will all be published on the right date and that ever thing that is due will be turned in at the right time.

Warm Up

What is one thing you learned yesterday about leads?

I learned that there is many types of leads like summary leads and creative leads. That they are all used for different purposes.

Monday, November 8, 2010

Warm Up

A lead is a part of you article, essay, persuasive text, ect. that draws the reader into your piece and give them the main information that your text is going to be about. A possible type of lead could be a hook. Which is to draw the reader into you piece by having an interesting sentence that would want to reader to read more. If you had a boring lead then the reader would not want to read your piece. If you lead was exiting and interesting the reader would want to read your whole piece.

Warm Up

I think that the editors do an outstanding job art editing my piece. I like how they help me through writing my article and if they have advice they will give it to us. There is nothing that I think they do wrong because they are editing my paper the way that I hoped they would. Also, they are not rude about things and try their best to help us out.

Warm Up

I will be publishing in the Week 2 cycle. I have the Breast Cancer walk this weekend so I have to wait till next Friday.

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Warm Up

Well I'm going to have to go to the Breast Cancer walk and I think that I might have some troubles like talking to people and who to interview. Besides that I think that I'm right on task and that I will be done by the dead line for sure. Also, I know a lot about my piece.  I finished the prewrite which mean I like already have my first paragraph done. My publication date will be week 2 cycle because the Breast Cancer walk is this Saturday.

Warm Up

My most challenging thing about online Journalism has to be maybe the pace, because of all the other homework you have to do plus having to write an essay is kind of hard. But, soon like in the middle of the year I think I will get familiar with the pace and it won't be a problem anymore. Also, the interviews are kind of challenging trying to interview all the people you must interview and fitting them in to your schedule and theirs.

Warm Up: Pre writing

The prewriting was helpful to me in many ways but I would preform my prewriting technique instead. Some times I felt like I was repeating my self a lot and not breaking it down to what I'm going to write about in each paragraph. It was still helpful when sometimes I thought of a new idea and then backed it up with a lot of information. When I did that all that I had to do was put it all together and make it flow and now I have a paragraph. It was easy and helpful in a lot of ways , but I don't think that I would want to use the pre sheet for everyone of my essays. Instead I like to draw on a piece of paper 5 boxes which symbolizes each paragraph. In each box I summarize what I would write about and talk about in that section. Then, at the end sum it all up and I'm ready to go.

Warm Up

When I am bored I usually tend to grave a lap top and go onto National Geographic website and look at all the neat pictures. They have pictures on nature, weather, people, and just so much more. Also, I like to go to the website FML.com where people anonymously post funny things that happened through out their day. I really enjoy Face book but I mean who doesn't.  That is pretty much it.

What were the three most valuable things Joe shared today?

I think that the 1st most valuable thing that he told us was the advise for our web. Joe has been taking web classes and told use that you should always plan things out for our web. The 2nd most valuable thing that he said was kind of preparing us for the real world of Journalism. He informed us that every day there is always a new article on the website so prepare for a lot of work. Lastly, he informed us about himself and what jobs he is doing. That helped me get an outlook on him and what kind of things he likes to do. Also how he got to the point that he is at today.

Warrm Up

5

Under normal circumstances  I would have taken a car, but the car sits in my garage broken . I had to get to Mary's house no matter what, she says that it is very important for me to see her. My curiosity on what she has to tell me lead me to walking in the forest , lost. The sudden burst of shivers that go run down my back only make this walk even worse. I can't find which way to go and as minutes pass I know that I need to find my way out of these forests. The paper said go left I did so, then take a right I did so as well. I followed all the direction and I still do not see Mary's house in sight, even so no house at all. Lost with no one should I hug a tree wait for someone to find me stranded here? Next, time I will take the high rode.

Warm Up

My piece to me is not really what represents me as a writer because it's not the type of writing that I am best at. To me I think that I am a much better fictional and creative writer and I think that is more what represents me.I enjoy writing very creative pieces.  I still think that my piece is good and that it does show how I am as a writer.

Warm Up- Day 16

I feel confident about writing my article because the new building is kind of a simple task to write about. I have to interview the principle and a construction worker. I know a lot about the building already. I feel like I'm going to need help when I have to interview someone. I already have all my questions but the actual task of talking to a stranger kind of makes me nervous. Bur I can do it and hopefully my essay will be quite good.

Monday, September 27, 2010

Warm Up

This last week I have learned a lot. When we went to library and Scott told us his six guide lines of interviewing that was a very great lesson. I have to write an article on the new building and I'm going to have to interview people. Without that lesson I would have been clueless on how to interview some one. Now I know what I am writing about and how the whole getting your subject you going to be writing about works, so now I know how this journalism class is going to be.

Friday, September 24, 2010

warm up

My writing process usually starts by getting notes on the topic .It's not a long process and isn't the same every  time.  If its a creative piece of writing I usually just go with what flows of the top of my mind. If not I  write a little summary on the topic. Then I start to plot. I put my own person twist on it. Then I write and it's good to go .

Scotts guidelines for interviewing

1. Identify yourself as a journalist.

2. Have 3-5 sources and always get the person that you are interviewing name, title, and spell it correctly.

3.  Make what ever you write is on the record and not off it.

4. Use a voice recorder or take notes.

5.Listen to what they say.

6. Always have 5 questions ready to ask.

Warm Up -Articles

What I learned while reading the articles:

1.   When writing a blog you usually get conversations started over comments.
2.   When you don't know something, don't be afraid to admit it.
3.   A media story consist of pictures, videos, and audio.
4.   Story boards are used to help organize and focus on a story.

Warm Up

I beg of you
Feed me

So many people like you and me sit in their cardboard homes and wait for that nice person to hand them a nickle or penny that is stored away to try to pay for their evening meal. So many people starve. We throw away so much food that someone would die to eat. Like that extra hamburger that finds its way to the trash can without even being bitten.  Its so sad that so many people would take that and that people go days without taking a single bite. While we pick and choose and then tend to through away. Why can't we just help them?

Warm up

My second week of school was a lot better then the first. I know where everything is and I'm finally settled in all of my classes, Last week I would just wait for a schedule to be handed to me saying what my new classes were. That happened to me three times last week. Now I'm not afraid of that and I know everybody in my class and I'm  settled in. I'm exited to see how this school year is going to play out for me.

Warm Up

When we write our first issue I'm gonna be most likely looking forward to how the end product is going to look like. So many different kinds of writing on one page. I'm gonna be so exited to read it and write my part for the newspaper. I'm also looking forward to getting a signed an issue that we have to write about. Putting my own personal twist to it is gonna be fun because my creative side is gonna come out. I'm mainly worried that my issue that I write isn't going to be as great as the all the other students.

Warm Up - My first week

My first week of Journalism really got me more interested in writing then I already was.I know that I will have a lot of fun through out the year. Our first week was very simple we always had a daily warm up and just talked and meet each other.Even if it was simple it was still fun so I have high explanations for this class. She was talking about writing a lot and finding what we are interested in and making a newspaper. I'm exited for my year in Journalism.

Warm up

Thought is the sculptor who can create the person you want to be.   Henry David Thoreau

I belelive that the answer to this quote would be that you are the one who can bulid you up and create yourself. You are the one who choses the right or wrong path that you want to take. The thought may be the sculptor but to me I think that the thought is more like a teacher. Your thoughts towards something are either telling you to do something bad which in this case you would learn from it. Your thoughts sculpt your ideas towards things. Your thoughts tell you what it thinks that you should do. Leading you on the right path, sculpting you, and teaching you through your everyday life.
